Evaporative Coolers vs. Traditional Air Conditioning
Although evaporative coolers and air conditioners both serve the purpose of keeping us cool, evaporative coolers are often less expensive to maintain, operate, and are especially suited for areas where using moisture to cool won't be an issue.
Evaporative coolers cool the air by filtering it through water, and these systems work best when outside air circulates into the space where the evaporative cooler is situated. Not only does this result in energy savings, but in covered or tent event settings, it introduces fresh air into the environment and reduces the risk of airborne contaminants.
Central, or traditional air conditioners, on the other hand, take humidity out of the air and produce cold, dry air, which makes them better suited in an airtight space. However, the major advantage of using an evaporative cooler over an air conditioner involves operating costs, as operating an evaporative cooler cost one third less than that of an air conditioner. Evaporative coolers are a perfect, ozone-friendly alternative to traditional air conditioning.
